Five!

Apparently the word lnga is used in central dialect slang as a way of telling someone to shut up. For example, if someone is bothering you by asking you for some information or a number etc., you just say lnga! and that gives them their answer--to shut up. I'm not sure how this came about but putting your five fingers together also sort of looks like a gesture that could carry the message across.

  1. I a comic book I have, the number nine dgu is also used in Lhasa slang (I believe).

    I've mostly forgotten the meaning, but this is what a thief says when he's handing back an unvaluable prayerwheel to an old lady he was going to steal it from: "da res ma yin dgu yin yin da".

    Do you know what it means?
